Hello Tim. I've tracked you down!

10 years ago one was labeled a geek for having a 25k modem and an email address, but now broadband and email are about as mainstream as it gets. All the boy bands rely on the internet to allow their fans to download from iTunes, and most up and coming bands of bright young things will have blogs and MySpace accounts. So the geek has inherited the earth, sort of, and mindless hacks like Rachel Cooke manage to demonstrate their obliviousness to the history of the internet revolution rather clearly.

By the way. I have no idea what 7 * 8 is. Sorry.

Heaven forfend -- what would she make of us hobos across the pond and our undying loyalty to a rising band that never plays the same show twice? :)

You might be interested to note that at a wedding at the weekend I was talking to see someone, working in the music industry, who said he was getting bored by the three chord bands he'd been listening too - the Killers, Artic Monkeys etc - and was now listening to Muse, Zep and Eloy!!!!!

Serdar, I think you mistyped "God Emperor of Dune" :)

I've worn Marillion T-shirts to work, and find colleagues take the piss. But when I wear model railway club T-shirts to gigs, even members of the band take the piss..

Why not have the best of both worlds? A dull science-fiction novel which is deeply symbolic of man's struggle against his socio-polical environment!

Wait, that was "Snow Crash". Never mind.
