Get a feeling there’s something wrong with the music world when tribute bands are playing arena tours.

There are many things wrong with the music world but I’m not sure this is one of them. These tribute acts exist in many cases where the original acts are no longer functioning in any real sense. They are keeping the music alive for new generations to hear performed in the flesh. I have seen the Australian Pink Floyd Show four times now and they put on a bloody good show. I know it’s the closest I’ll ever get to witnessing the real thing. There is clearly an audience out there for acts like TAPFS and Regenesis so if they can fill arenas then good luck to them.
Friend of mine plays for the Mangledwurzels (yes, a Wurzel tribute band!). They also do their own material and he says it gets embarrassing when they are asked to repeat their own stuff rather than the originals. Just waiting for them to get big enough to play Manchester Arena! (grin)
As Tom says, there can be a lot more things wrong with the world than this one and if a tribute band can earn an honest crust doing it then more power to them.
