Modern Architecture

Brian Micklethwait sings the praises of the new Swiss Re building in London, otherwise known as the Erotic Gherkin.

I remember seeing it, still under construction, from a Thameslink train passing through the centre of London, and the two friends I was travelling with had never heard it described thus. It's certainly a dramatically different building, unlike the bland square blocks or historical pastiches we've been used to recent years.

Of course, when I see the words "Swiss Re", I expect it to be followed with either "4/4" or "6/6". If you're wondering why, go here.
